Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnosis? It’s a state of relaxation and concentration at one with a state of heightened awareness, induced by suggestion. It is a non-addictive power for good, and is a natural manifestation of the mind at work.

Are there people that you cannot hypnotise? No, but some medical conditions will require a doctor’s consent

Shall I be aware of what’s happening? Yes. A state of heightened awareness and participation.

Will I be asleep? No. You are extremely relaxed and this is why the technique is called “Conscious Hypnosis”.

How many visits will I need? Simple problems like smoking, nail biting, slimming, pre-test nerves usually require 1-3 sessions and the success rate is surprisingly high. The more deep-rooted nervous disorders require “analytical” rather than suggestion therapy, which consists of 10-12 weekly sessions.

Could I be influenced to do something against my will? No. In fact you could come out of a Hypnotic state immediately if any such action was suggested to you

How does it differ from other therapies?  During hypnosis the client is in contact with the subconscious mind, your emotions and memories or behavioural problems. Most other forms of therapy ere carried out at a conscious level, and the will power of the conscious mind is small against that of a learnt response from the past. Problems can occur when a behaviour pattern is formed in a response to a situation that has occurred in the past. As a person develops and the situation changes the behaviour response sometimes doesn’t change. As hypnotherapy can change that behaviour response on a subconscious level, the possibilities are endless.
